TaskDuster privacy policy
Effective date: 16 October 2026. Applies to TaskDuster version 1.1.1, published by Adria.
Information TaskDuster handles
TaskDuster handles information you enter to manage your to-do lists: task titles, a Personal or Work category, custom list names and assignments, tags, repeat rules, due dates and optional times. It also creates task and recurring-series identifiers, links between completed and upcoming occurrences, creation/update/completion timestamps, reminder schedules and handled-occurrence records, notification-action records, and your last selected category.
It temporarily retains a task snapshot when offering Undo after completion or deletion. Expired Undo snapshots are removed on the next cleanup/reconciliation. A bounded request ledger retains command hashes and result identifiers to prevent duplicate operations; it does not retain a separate copy of task-title text.
Storage and use
This information is saved in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) in your browser profile on your device. TaskDuster uses it only to display and update your lists, preserve completed history, remember your selected category, schedule reminders, handle reminder actions, prevent duplicate reminders and offer Undo.
TaskDuster does not operate a backend, require an account, use Chrome's sync storage, or upload your task data to the developer or remote application servers. It does not contain analytics or advertising. The developer has no remote access to your local tasks through this extension.
TaskDuster does not add application-level encryption to Chrome's local storage. Access to your device/browser profile is controlled by Chrome and your operating system. No claim of cloud backup or recovery is made.
Notifications
Task titles and deadline information may be displayed in Chrome/operating-system notifications. TaskDuster passes this text to the local notification API so that it can show reminders and Done/Snooze actions. Your operating system may retain notification history or display task text on its notification/lock screen according to your settings. Notification visibility and retention are controlled by Chrome and the operating system.
Access, changes, retention and deletion
You can view, edit, complete, restore and delete tasks through TaskDuster. Completed tasks are retained locally, including older history, until you delete them. After deletion, the brief Undo snapshot expires and is removed during cleanup; other tasks and history are preserved.
Removing a custom list keeps its tasks in Unlisted. Tags remain with tasks until edited or deleted. Recurring-task completion retains its finished occurrence and creates one next occurrence with the same task content and repeat rule.
Removing TaskDuster clears its Chrome local extension storage. OS notification history, device backups and any copies you make are managed separately by their respective systems. Version 1.1.1 does not offer cloud recovery or export/import.
Data sharing and permissions
TaskDuster does not sell task data, send it to advertisers or analytics providers, or use it for purposes unrelated to its task-list and reminder features. It uses only storage, alarms and notifications permissions. It does not access browsing history, read website content, inject scripts into websites or inspect other tabs.
TaskDuster's use of user data is limited to providing its personal/work task-list and reminder features. It does not transfer that data to the developer or remote third parties for advertising, unrelated uses or human review.
Website and support
This policy covers the TaskDuster Chrome extension. Any webpage used to present this policy or information about TaskDuster is hosted separately. Its hosting provider may process standard connection information, such as your IP address, requested page and browser information, to deliver and protect the page, under that provider's privacy terms. The extension does not automatically connect to those pages or send them your task data.
If you contact the publisher by email, the publisher receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, and uses them to respond to your request and troubleshoot the extension. Email providers process that correspondence to deliver it. Sharing task text or screenshots in a support message is your choice; the developer cannot access your extension's local storage remotely. You can use the contact address below to request deletion of support correspondence, subject to any applicable retention obligations.
